Get experience in the restaurant trade. Start with any job, cook, assistant cook, dishwasher and work your way up. Show an interest in food and learning and you will gain valuable experience.
Step2
Check the local papers for apprentice chef positions. It never hurts to apply as these are jobs desinged to teach. They also pay for you to take additional courses to upgrade your skills.
Step3
Talk to people in the industry. Make your contacts like you would any other job. By creating a networking system you'll be kept abreast of any new openings and opportunities.
