A fun, creative and useful gift to make for others is a pizza-making kit. Homemade pizza is fun and relatively easy to make when you have the right ingredients and tools.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Apron
  • Rolling pin
  • Pizza pan or stone
  • Pizza cutter
  • Pizza recipe on recipe card
  • Bottled pizza sauce
  • Packaged pizza crust mix
  • Large container such as a basket or mixing bowl
  • Decorative bow, raffia and cellophane
  1. Step 1

Place a small amount of raffia in the bottom of the large container.

  2. Step 2

Place pizza pan or stone into the large container, in an upright position. Remove from package if necessary, but be sure to keep all instructions, warranties and proofs of purchase for the gift recipient.

  3. Step 3

Fold top, sides and strings onto the lower back portion of the apron. Carefully roll. Secure with a piece of raffia. Place rolled-up apron into the large container in an upright position, to the side or in front of the pizza pan.

  4. Step 4

Put rolling pin, pizza cutter, pizza crust mix and pizza sauce into the large container. Place the larger items first, and then fill in empty spaces with the smaller items. It is best to have larger items toward the back of the container.

  5. Step 5

Place recipe card, item instructions, warranties and proofs of purchase in the basket. Place recipe card in the front where it can easily be seen.

  6. Step 6

Wrap the filled large container with cellophane and top with a bow.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you have your own pizza crust mix that you make from scratch, put the premeasured dry ingredients into a clean glass jar with a lid. Attach instructions for what to add and how to make the dry mix into a pizza crust. Substitute this for the packaged pizza crust mix.
  • A "suggested list of toppings" can be included with the kit, as well. Some interesting toppings to include in the list are pepperoni, Italian sausage, breakfast bacon, hamburger, Canadian bacon, ham, anchovies, chicken chunks, green bell peppers, banana peppers, spinach, black olives, onions, tomatoes, artichoke hearts, pineapple, mushrooms, jalapeno peppers, "fake" meats (for vegetarians), tofu, "fake" cheeses (for vegetarians) and red bell peppers.
  • A list of variations to traditional sauces and cheeses can be included with the kit. Such variations include barbecue sauce, Alfredo sauce, pesto, cheddar cheese, Monterey jack cheese, Parmesan cheese and provolone.
  • Buy the best quality pizza pan or stone you can when creating this kit, because low-quality pans and stones can create poor results.
