How to Change Cartridges on a Canon Printer MP460

The Canon MP460 Printer can print both beautiful photographs and laser-quality text, make copies of your important documents and scan everything from your prized family heirloom photos to tax forms. The printer comes with a 1.9" color LCD display which allows you to enhance your images prior to printing. As an added bonus, the Canon MP460 Printer allows you to not only print from your computer, but directly from memory cards, cameras, Bluetooth devices and camera phones. Occasionally the Canon MP460 Printer will run out of ink requiring you to change out the ink cartridges.

Things You'll Need

• Canon MP460 Printer
• Compatible replacement ink cartridges
• Plastic Bag

Instructions

1. Locate the On button located on the far upper left of the control panel of the Canon MP460 Printer. Ensure the document cover is closed. Turn the printer on by pressing and releasing the On button one time.

2. Open the scanning unit. Pull the scanning unit support, located on the right hand side beneath the scanning unit, down and into its locked position.

3. Observe the FINE print cartridge holder. Ensure the cartridge holder moves to the left.

4. Release the empty FINE print cartridge by pressing down on the front of the cartridge. Remove the empty FINE Cartridge by pulling it straight up. Place the empty cartridge in the plastic bag and set aside for recycling.

5. Remove the new FINE cartridge from its packaging. Remove the protective tape from the nozzle and connectors. Dispose of the protective tape.

6. Install the new FINE cartridge into the appropriate slot. Insert Black cartridges into the left cartridge holder. Insert Color cartridges into the right cartridge holder. Press down on the front of the cartridge until it clicks into place.

7. Raise the scanning unit slightly. Return the scanning unit support to its resting position. Close the scanning unit. Align the FINE cartridge position if necessary.

Tips & Warnings

• The Canon MP460 Printer can use PG-40 Black, PG-50 Black (High Yield), CL-41 Color and CL-51 Color (High Yield) FINE cartridges.

• Empty FINE cartridges may still contain small amounts of ink. Handle carefully to avoid staining skin and clothing.

• The Canon MP460 Printer will not function properly if the FINE cartridge is improperly installed.

• The Canon MP460 Printer will not function properly if the wrong FINE cartridge is installed.

• Never touch the transparent film, film cable, ink absorber or any metal parts inside the Canon MP460 Printer

• Never touch the print nozzle or gold connectors on the FINE cartridge.
