Are you looking to add some spice to Texas hold 'em when playing it at your home poker night? If so, the super eight hold 'em poker might be the right choice for you. It is sort of a cross between Texas hold 'em and Omaha hi hold 'em. In traditional Texas hold 'em, you only start out with two hole cards, and in Omaha hi hold 'em you start out with four cards. In super eight hold 'em, you start out with three cards. It follows the same rules of Texas hold 'em though, in which you can use as many or as few of your hole cards as you wish.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

Step1
Gather your friends for a home poker night. Super eight hold 'em poker is a good game to play with a large group of friends. You can’t have quite as many players at a table as you can with Texas hold 'em. That is not a problem though, because you can’t fix the maximum number of players for Texas Holdem at a table anyway. Playing super eight hold 'em, you can have up to 15 players, with the optimal amount being six to eight.
Step2
Deal three cards face down to each player. After all the players at the table have received three cards, each player may look at her own cards.
Step3
Deal three cards to the center of the table face up. These are “the flop” and can be used by any player to complete his hand.
Step4
Conduct the first betting round. This round is begun by the player sitting to the left of the dealer.
Step5
Deal another face up card to the center of the table. This card is known as “the turn,” and, like “the flop,” can be used by any player to complete her poker hand.
Step6
Conduct a second wagering round. This round is started by the player sitting two seats to the left of the dealer.
Step7
Deal a final face up card to the center of the table. This card is known as “the river.” Players can now make their best five card combination from their three hole cards, “the flop,” “the turn,” and “the river” to form their poker hand.
Step8
Conduct a final wagering round, begun by the player sitting three seats to the left of the dealer.
Step9
Reveal your cards and declare your hand. Each player that has not folded now reveals his cards and declares their hand. A player can not change his declaration to improve his hand. The player with the best poker hand wins the pot.

Tips & Warnings

  • Adding a third hole card in super eight hold 'em Poker provides a little more betting action compared with Texas hold 'em. Unlike the rules in Omaha hold 'em, a player does not have to use a specific number of hole cards in her final hand.
  • One of the biggest mistakes players make in super eight hold 'em poker is failing to declare the correct hand. Take a minute and evaluate all the possibilities for the eight cards in play to make your best hand before declaring.
