You need to learn about what professionals wear and what styles and colors are acceptable.

Step 3

Step 4
Start your transition: once you have the academic experience, and the sales experience then you are ready to start your climb up to personal shopper. Start keeping track of your sales so that you can show management the type of revenue you are producing for them. Start getting testimonials from regular customers so that you can show management how much your customers value your service. The process may take you a couple of years but will be worth the wait once you get offered the position of personal shopper.

Step 5
Make between $30,000 to $50,000. Different personal shoppers make different amounts, depending on their experience, how long they work, and who their clients are. A personal shopper will usually make a salary plus commission.

Step 6
Work odd hours – Most personal shoppers work odd hours because their clients also work, so they need to be available on weekends and after hours.

Step 7
Work long hours – Most personal shoppers in Saks will work long hours. They will be working during the day in the store finding items for clients and meeting with clients after the client finishes work. Expect 12 to 14 hour days.
