How to Remove Make Up Stains on Shirt Collars

Nothing puts the brakes on starting your day right quite like getting makeup on your shirt collar. Waiting to put your shirt on until after you have done your makeup will not prevent this stain from happening. Properly blending your foundation on your neck will leave a makeup stain on the shirt collar if you wear it while you put the make up on. Finding a new shirt to change into is not an option since putting it on will just stain it up. You need to get that makeup stain off your shirt collar -- and fast -- so you are not late for the rest of your day. Using baby wipes to clean make-up off of shirt collars is a trick that fashion stores have been using for decades. The baby wipe, if used properly, will clean off the make-up without using any soap that would leave a residue that needs to be rinsed off.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Well-lit mirror
  • 1 package of baby wipes
  1. Step 1

Pull the shirt collar away from your body so that you can see the stain. You will want to make sure that you can reach the stain without having to take off your shirt.

  2. Step 2

Remove one baby wipe from the wipe container. You will want to use only one wipe at a time to try and remove the stain to keep the shirt collar from getting too wet.

  3. Step 3

Place the baby wipe over the make up stain. Use your thumb and pointer finger to gently rub the baby wipe into the stain for about five seconds, then remove the wipe.

  4. Step 4

If necessary, repeat Step 3 until the stain is removed and all that is left is your clean (and just a little damp) garment.

  5. Step 5

Allow the shirt collar to air dry.

Tips & Warnings
  • If the shirt collar has gotten too wet, you can dry it more quickly with your hair dryer. Set the hair dryer to the cool temperature and hold it about four inches from the material until it is dry.
  • Do not use moisturized baby wipes. The moisturizer in them will get on the shirt collar and cause a bigger stain the the make up.
  • Plain baby wipes contain just the right amount of moisture to remove make-up stains without overly saturating a short collar. The fabric of a baby wipe also does not leave any lint behind on the shirt as a paper towel or napkin might.
