Find the Recycle Bin on a Computer

If you are lucky, the recycle bin is located on your computer's desktop. But sometimes it's missing or was never added to begin with. Don't worry, because it is extremely easy to find the recycling bin on a computer.

Instructions

Step 1

Turn on your computer. If you are using Vista then you will begin by right-clicking the desktop area. If you are using XP then you will need to click "Start" and "Control Panel."
Step 2

For Vista users, select "Personalize." This will open a new window with a variety of options. For XP users, click on "Appearances and Personalization," and then click "Personalization."
Step 3

Next, in Vista select "Change Desktop Icons." This will open another window where you will simply check the box beside "Recycle Bin." In XP, click "Change Desktop Icons" and check the "Recycle Bin" box, just as with Vista users.
Step 4

Finally, no matter which Windows version you are using, click "OK" to save and close the windows. Your Recycle Bin should now be visible on your computer desktop.
