How to Set Up an Email
Back in the day, it was a rare to find an email provider that did not charge for its services. And if you did find one, the service usually had extremely limited features and very little storage space. Fortunately, times have changed. It's now possible to sign up for a free email account with any number of companies, each offering its own unique benefits. If you're new to the world of electronic mail, here's how to sign up for an email account using Google Mail, a popular, user-friendly email provider.
Instructions

1
Visit the Gmail website by clicking on the link listed below.
-
2
Click the "Create an Account" button on the lower right side of the screen.
-
-
3
Enter your first and last name into the appropriate blank fields.
-
4
Choose a user name. Since Gmail is very popular, you probably won't get to use your first and last name, unless it is a very unusual name. Also consider putting numbers or an underscore between certain elements of the name in order to get the user name you desire.
-
5
Choose a password of 8 characters or more. Google will inform you of the strength of your password as you type it into the box. Retype the password into the password verification field.
-
6
Select and answer a security question from the drop-down list. This will enable Google to provide your password if you eventually forget it.
-
7
If you have another e-mail address, enter it into the "Secondary email" field. This is not a required step, although it is helpful if you are ever locked out of your account.
-
8
Select the country from which your account is being created from the drop-down list.
-
9
Type the distorted, red verification word into the field directly beneath it. This is to ensure that spamming computers do not set up mass accounts.
-
10
Review the Google terms of service and click the "I Accept" button at the bottom of the screen.
-
11
Type your cellphone number into the "Mobile phone number" field. After clicking the button, wait for Google to send you a text message containing a verification code. Enter the code into the box and click "Verify."
-
12
Click "Show me my account" to begin writing and receiving emails.
