How to Repair Golf Club Grips
One of the most common mistakes golfers make in their game is to not properly care for their equipment. Even if you have purchased a top-of-the-line set of clubs, your grips will wear down and hurt your game. Replace your grips once a year for casual golfers and more often for everyday players.

1
Remove your old golf club grips. Holding the middle of the club with the grip facing away from you, take a boxcutter and slice the rubber grip going away from your body. The grip is made of thick rubber tubing and should easily slice apart. Simply peel the grip away once it is cut.

2
Purchase a new grip for each club you are repairing. Individual grips for clubs are available. However, it is more cost effective to purchase a pack that caters to entire sets of clubs. Grips are one generic size for all clubs, so do not worry about which club gets what grip.

3
Clean the shaft where the old grip used to be. Remove any tape or glue that was used to hold the grip steady before. Scrub the shaft with household cleaner or simple dish soap until all the grime and dirt come free. Dry completely before moving to the next step.

4
Unroll a small amount of double-sided tape. Beginning where you estimate your new grip will begin and wrapping a generous amount around the shaft up toward the end will provide a sturdy base for your new grip. This tape will help keep the grip from sliding out.

5
Take the grip out of its packaging, and begin sliding it down over the club’s shaft. The tape will give some resistance, but it should go on easily.
