How to Use the Insert Palette in Yahoo SiteBuilder

Creating your own professional website without knowing how to program in HTML or other web encoding is now easier than ever before. Many companies have created user-friendly website design programs that function on a simple drag-and-drop interface. One such program is Yahoo! Sitebuilder, which gives nearly anybody the ability to create a website in a rather short amount of time.

      Open and run the application. Left-click on the application icon in order to run the program. If you do not have a copy of this program you can get a free copy by using the link in Resources below.

      Open the website and page that you wish to insert something into. To open a website, left-click on the “File” tab on the command bar. Scroll to “Open Site” and left-click; browse to the desired file and click “Open.” Open the desired webpage by scrolling to the “File” tab and selecting “Open Page.”

      Scroll to the “Insert” tab on the command bar; an insert palette menu will open. The insert palette functions as a shortcut to inserting anything that the program allows into a webpage. You use the insert palette to insert the following: text, image, link to, tables, audio, video, background, background sounds, navigation bars, add-ons, page effects, Paypal buttons, store tags, forms and form elements and code elements.

      Insert the desired items by left-clicking on the corresponding selection on the insert palette submenu.
