Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • A pesky tarantula, but don't go looking for one - this is just in case one comes looking for you!
  1. Step 1

Don't panic. Don't move suddenly. Stay calm and breathe.

  2. Step 2

Find something to brush the tarantula off of you. For instance, a rolled newspaper, magazine, small stick or glove works well. Don't use your bare hand.

  3. Step 3

If the tarantula cannot be brushed off, stand up slowly and carefully and bounce up and down gently. The tarantula should fall off or skitter away.

Tips & Warnings
  • Tarantulas are very skittish, and should leave in great haste when poked or prodded.
  • Never try to pick up a tarantula. The tough bristles on the tops of their abdomens can irritate the skin. These bristles come loose easily and are shaped like small harpoons with barbed tips. They can penetrate the skin and cause a rash or hives.
