Instructions

    • 1

Remove old siding and install new weatherproofing membranes and sheathing around windows and doorways. Repair any dry rot and structural damage before proceeding.

    • 2

Install the flashing system recommended by the manufacturer of the stone siding. Nail the flashing along the bottom and inside corners of your project. To hide the flashing, fold it over and nail it down along the seams and the final row. Use an adhesive to install trimmer pieces of stone over the exposed flashing.

    • 3

Attach the first row of cultured stone siding to the flashing using the hardware that came with the flashing kit. Most kits will have you nail or screw the aluminum slip joint to the flashing to secure it, however, others will just slip over an interconnecting lip. After installing the first row check to make sure that it is level before proceeding. Next install the remaining rows of cultured stone siding by sliding the next row of stone onto the previous row's aluminum connecting system. You may need to cut the pieces to fit when you start or finish a row or when you work around corners and obstacles such as outlets and windows.

    • 4

Fold down the flashing that is around window sills, corners and finishing rows of stone and nail it down securely. Use the recommended adhesive to attach finishing stones to complete the project. Generally, you will need to fold down the last six inches of flashing before installing your trimmer pieces of stone siding. Use a caulking gun and a waterproof epoxy to seal joints and to seal around windows and doors.

Tips & Warnings
