How to Become a Medical Aesthetician
Aestheticians are licensed skin-care specialists. They treat facial skin to maintain and improve its appearance. Seek out Doctors that are willing to train you and attend verious skin care classes. You do not need to pay a school thousands of dollars for a medical esthetician certificate, when it is not a state license. almarae8 you are correct. -

almarae8 is correct. I'd like to know what esthetician is performing injectables so I can turn them in!Only a nurse under a physicians order can perform those. Esthetics laws vary from state to state, but one thing is for sure. If a federal judge can't define the term it doesn't exist.Like the term Licensed Medical Esthetician. All estheticians work under a law called the cosmetic act. This states we can pour onto the derma, rub onto ther derma, or massage onto the derma. We can never say legally "gets rid of" only " gives the or gets rid of the... appearance of" unless it pertains to the outer layers of the skin. It all comes down to advancing your traing and hours of experiance. There are specialized courses out there but I would start at your state board to see if they are accredited not by a private association but by a state or federal board. Here in Massachusetts we have the be... -

There is no such thing as a "medical esthetician". There are certifications and classes in medical esthetics - but there is no formal license or degree/certification that lends itself to distinguishing a medical esthetician from an esthetician. NO ESTHETICIAN, is, by law, able to do physician grade chemical peels and/or injectables. Medical Estheticians can use lasers, but almost anyone can become trained to use a laser (you don't have to be an esthetician or a medical professional). That being said - there should be such a thing as a medical esthetician and there should be a formal license and degree/certification one can take. -

Later this month I will begin studying to become an esthetician. I am very interested in the medical field of esthetics. Would you be able to direct me as to how or where I can futher my education in this area. Or what do I need to do to advance in medical esthetics? I live in the Chicago area. Thank you! -

This is completely wrong. There's a big difference between a medical aesthetician who performs peels, injectables, uses lasers and works alongside a physician, and a regular esthetician who does facials, micro dermabrasion, eyelash extensions, color tinting and works in a spa after graduating from a beauty school.... What was just described is that of a regular esthetician who is certified from a beauty school and goes to work in a spa.
