How to Become a Community Police Officer
A community police officer must undergo certain requirements to be able to become certified as a police officer. Training, dedication, and stamina are all part of becoming a community police officer.

Enroll in one of the many police academies available in your area. There is a set number of training hours you are required to do before you are certified.

Complete the training requirements for your jurisdiction. This training will cover all aspects of a community police officer's job. You will be dealing with domestic violence, child abuse, petty crime, and much more. The training will cover how to secure a crime scene, how to deal with suspects, and other crime details.

Register to take the police officer's test for your area. This test is given to all peace officers candidates before they can become officers.

Pass the physical examination. This exam is not only to check your health but your stamina. You will be required to complete an endurance test. If you can not pass the endurance test, you can not become a certified community police officer.

Apply to the community in which you are wanting to work. You need to find out if there are any openings available for a community police officer. You may need to work in another jurisdiction until an opening becomes available in your local community.
