Instructions

    • 1

Take a hot water shower because the hot water helps to open your piercing hole and lessen any feelings of discomfort.

    • 2

Use a hot compress on your piercing site, if you don’t want to take a shower every time you change your nose jewelry.

    • 3

Take your time. Patience is the key when changing your nose jewelry. It might not be a quick procedure, especially for beginners, so being patient is essential.

    • 4

Find the angle of your piercing. Don't try to push your nose jewelry into the tissue. Once you find the correct angle of your piercing, changing your jewelry is so much easier and less painful.

    • 5

Pull out your current stud and then push the new stud in. You may have to push firmly to get the ball on the end of the stud past the piercing hole.

    • 6

Gently pull the jewelry out, bending around the bend, when working with L-bend jewelry. It may hurt a bit as you pass the bend in and out of your piercing hole. Gently push the new jewelry in and bend around the bend once more.

Master the screws, which are a bit tricky. To get a screw out, pull and twist the jewelry firmly but gently until it is out. To insert a screw, position the end of the post horizontally to your nose and push it into the piercing hole. Once again, continue to push while twisting until the jewelry is fully inserted.

Pull apart the two sides and put the ring in, or take it out, depending upon the type of ring you have.

    • 9

Hold onto one side of the barbell and unscrew the ball on the other side and then push the barbell into, or out of, your piercing.

    • 10

Do the same when changing curved barbells or captive bead rings which are similar to changing straight barbells and rings. Some captive bead rings need a tool to change. Ask your body artist for help with changing captive bead rings.

Ice it down if your nose is red or sore after changing your nose jewelry. This go away in a day or two, but you can use some ice to help in the meantime.
