Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Things You’ll Need:
- Ginger
- Salt and Vinegar Chips
- High protein snacks: nuts, cheese, peanut butter
- Lots of liquids
- Foods high in carbohydrates
Step1
One of the oldest and most effective methods to treat nausea, not only in pregnancy, is to consume ginger. You can drink it in tea, have ginger ale, or munch on a ginger cookie.
Step2
Most people have heard of eating saltine crackers to combat morning sickness, well salt and vinegar chips also help, possibly more effectively. They help to eliminate some of the excess saliva that triggers morning sickness. They also go down easy.
Step3
Another cause of morning sickness is anemia, or low iron. Make sure you have your iron levels checked regularly. Eating snacks high in protein will help battle this uneasy ailment.
Step4
Make sure you eat several small meals throughout the day, rather than one or two large ones. Six small meals instead of three normal ones will help your digestive track and help tame morning sickness.
Step5
Keep yourself hydrated. Drink plenty of liquids throughout the day. It might be a good idea to fill a pitcher with water and leave it in the fridge. Have a water bottle near you at all times and when it gets low, head the fridge and give it a refill.
Step6
Consuming foods high in carbohydrates will also help with morning sickness. The carbohydrates help soak up some of the excess stomach acid which can trigger nausea.
Step7
One method to treat morning sickness that is extremely effective, but not well known about is acupressure. When you feel the onset of nausea, you take your thumb and press it firmly against a pressure point. This point can be located by finding your wrist, going two finger widths up your arm, and finding the point between the two bones and in the middle of the tendons. You should feel a very faint pain once you find the correct point. Hold your thumb there for several seconds or until the nausea leaves. It is amazing how wonderfully this technique works and you can use it anywhere and at any time.
