You can get "free" money by shopping online or participating in online surveys. Mr. Rebates is an online shopping site that gives you cash back for shopping at hundreds of your favorite stores. They'll also give you $5 just for signing up and it's free! You can claim your free money in a few steps.

Things You'll Need

• Computer with an internet connection.
• Mr. Rebates account (link in the resources section below).

Instructions

1. Navigate to the Mr. Rebates site (mrrebates.com) and sign up for free by entering your email address, password, address, city, state and ZIP code.

2. Read the Terms of Conditions and Privacy Policy. Then check the box next to "I agree to the Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy of this site." Click the "Register" button. Mr. Rebates will immediately credit your account. At the time of publication, the amount is $5.

3. Do some online shopping through Mr. Rebates site until you have earned at least an additional $2.50 in rebates. This should be easy to do as Mr. Rebates has hundreds of retailers where you probably already shop. In fact, you should be able to complete this step with purchases that you already make.Link to the online store through Mr. Rebates instead of going to its website directly.

4. After you have accumulated $10 in your account ($5 from your signup bonus and an additional $2.50 in online shopping rebates), request a payment through the 'My Account' section of the Mr. Rebates site. Mr. Rebates pays every month and you can request either a check or a PayPal payment.

5. Refer your friends to Mr. Rebates. They'll each earn the $5 signup bonus and you'll earn 20 percent of any rebates they earn as your commission. This offer doesn't expire. And it doesn't reduce your friends' earnings at all.

6. Take an online survey to receive cash for evaluating products. Cash Crate (cashcrate.com), GetPaidTo (getpaidto.com) and SurveyScout (surveyscout.com) are examples of survey companies that pay cash for participating in a survey.

Tips & Warnings

• Online shopping through Mr. Rebates requires just one extra step. You visit the Mr. Rebates site first and then link to the online store through there to do your shopping.

• After linking to the online store, the website looks just as it would if you had gone to the online store site directly. The only difference is that you'll now be earning cash back on your purchase through Mr. Rebates.

• You must be 18 years old or older to participate in the Mr. Rebates program. The program is open to U.S. and Canadian residents for both check and PayPal rebate payments. Although the program is also open to international residents, Paypal is the only payment option for Cash Back Rebates.

• Beware of survey companies that are really scams.
