Do you enjoy corn on the cobs from state fairs? Follow the steps below for delicious, juicy corn on the cob.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Fresh Corn, Do not shuck
  • Bucket or large pot with Ice Water
  • Butter
  • Salt
  • Foil
  • Barbeque Grill ready to grill the corn (with charcoal, wood chips, or gas)
  • Metal Tongs to turn the corn
  • Kitchen Glove
  1. Step 1

At least four hours prior to grilling the corn, prepare a bucket, large pot, or other large container sufficient to hold the corn you have grown or purchased.

  2. Step 2

Wash each ear of corn with the husk intact.

  3. Step 3

Place 2/3 ice and 1/3 water in the container that is enough to cover the corn. The colder the corn gets, the better. Put the corn in the ice water.

  4. Step 4

Next, shuck the husk halfway off each ear of corn. Do not tear off the husk.

  5. Step 5

Pull the silk off each ear of corn.

  6. Step 6

Wash each ear of corn with the husk still attached (while it is pulled back).

  7. Step 7

Rub butter on each ear of corn and pull the husk back on the corn (recover each ear with the husk).

  8. Step 8

Wrap each ear of corn in foil and place each one on the grill. Cook 40 minutes over medium heat or until kernels are tender.

  9. Step 9

Using grill tongs or oven gloves, remove the corn from the grill when kernels are tender.

  10. Step 10

Pull back the husk down over the corn stalk. Dip again in butter (if desired). Add salt, if desired.

  11. Step 11

Wrap the stalk and husk with a napkin and enjoy your great tasting, juicy corn on the cob.

Tips & Warnings
  • Corn is juicier if it is soaked in ice water.
  • You do not have to add butter for juicy corn. The moisture on the corn from being soaked, while the corn is in the foil during grilling, will keep the corn moist.
  • You can grill the corn without placing each ear in foil. However, you should place foil on the grill shelves to prevent the grill from burning the husk and corn kernels during cooking.
  • If there is no corn stalk, you can use the corn picks to help hold the corn after shucking the husk off the corn.
  • If you do not use foil or butter, the corn will be drier after grilling.
  • The corn will be hot when you take it off the grill. Be careful serving grilled corn to children to prevent burning.
