We all need a space of our own, no matter our age. Children can thrive when there is a place in their home that nurtures their imaginations and their sense of belonging.

It is sometimes difficult to choose how to decorate your kid's room when your kid is at the in between stage. This is the stage where kids are not little anymore but their not teens yet. The stage where you can get rid of the Disney characters and Spongebob theme and replace them with more neutral themes and decor.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Camouflage Kids room

Camo seems to never go out of style. Camo comes in a variety of different colors. You can choose from pink, blue or the traditional kaki and green. Whatever color you choose you can create a great big kids room with Camouflage.

    * Tips when using camo

    1. Buy the bedding set first

    2. Choose one of the colors in the camo bedding set for your primary wall color

    3. Choose another color in the camo bed set to add an accent color. Use this color to add stripes to your big kids room or as a trim color.

    4. With Camo decor you will get a better effect if you keep it simple. try not to add to many other patterns or colors to the room.

  2. Step 2

    Rustic Big kids room

Rustic decor is a perfect choice for the big kid that isn't really into color. Rustic decor is warm and inviting and simple to accomplish. Just think nature!

    Rustic decorating ideas

    1. paint walls a neutral color like tan, rust or copper.

    2. Split wood makes great shelves.
When you split wood you sometimes end up with a piece of wood with 2 flat sides. (this is usually when you split a large trunk into 4 pieces.)
    * Mount a flat side of the wood onto the wall with the other flat side facing up like a shelf.

    3. Use small tree branches for your curtain rod. You can use wood curtain brackets to hold the branch into place.

  3. Step 3

    Sports crazy kids room

Sports themes stay in style even as your child grows. You can add interest to sports theme decorating by adding sports memorabilia or equiptment. You can find unique sports stuff at yard sales and flea markets.

    * try collecting baseball gloves, tennis rackets or basketballs and hang them on the wall or place them on a shelf in the room.
