How to flavor vodka.

Vodka by its self can be bland and boring. However there is a way to flavor it to make it taste more like a aged whiskey or rum. your friends will be amazed at your ability to turn cheap vodka into a fine aged spirit.

Things You’ll Need:

• vodka or Everclear.
• oak wood
• a torch
• a jar.

1. starting product. the first thing to do is to get a bottle of cheap vodka or everclear. if it is everclear you want to dilute it down to at most 60% by volume, or 120 proof.
2. Now you need to find some oak wood. A piece of oak firewood will work well. Split it down to get a piece small enough to completely fit in your jar.
3. ageing vodka with burnt oak. Now to Caramelize the natural compounds in the wood you need to burn it. you don't need to burn it threw all the way, but just until the outside is real nice and dark burned black. the best way to do this is with a propane torch. however, lacking a propane torch you can burn it in a oven set to 450 degrees. This may smoke up the house though. Wash it off with water and put it in your jar. If you want it to taste like jack Daniels you should also add some charcoal made from sugar maple.
4. the finished product. Now just fill your jar up the rest of the way with the vodka and seal it up real tight. let it sit in a dark location to age. taste it every few days or weeks. once it tastes best remove the wood and or charcoal and bottle it. Depending on how strong you like it, it may take a few days to several months.

• try burning the wood more or less to create different flavors.
