Things You'll Need:
- A computer with an internet connection.
- An eBay account.
-
Step 1
Log onto eBay and choose 'Motors' from the options at the top of the page.
-
Step 2
Choose the Make and Model of car from the dropdown boxes, enter your zip code and click on search. Or, if you prefer, browse any of the categories in the 'Browse by Type' section.
-
Step 3
The search results page will show you all listings on eBay Motors that meet your criteria. If you'd like to narrow your results, explore the options under 'Refine your search' on the left-hand side of the page.
-
Step 4
The search results page will show you listings from across the United States. If you'd like to keep your search a little closer to home, use the blue, 'Vehicles in your area' box at the top of the listings.
-
Step 5
Click on and individual listing on the results page to get more detailed information about that listing, and to email the seller with any questions.
-
Step 6
If you're interested in purchasing one of the vehicles listed, note whether the listing has a starting price or current bid. Other important details are whether there is a 'buy it now' and/or 'best offer' option and how much time is remaining in the auction.

on 7/15/2008 Great advice. I've never bought a car on ebay before, but I have sold two cars on ebay and both sales went perfectly. Ebay really is a good place to find cars. You might want to do your search for a car within 200 miles of your home, because delivery charges add up quickly, or if you go get the car yourself, the closer it is the easier and cheaper for you.

on 7/15/2008 I didn't know about the vehicle protection program either. I have wanted to buy cars on eBay before, but was afraid to invest in a lemon. Thanks for the useful info!
