How to Withdraw Money from A Upromise Account

Upromise is a popular savings site that promotes itself as a way to save money for college. The funds that accumulate in your account, however, can be withdrawn at any time and used for whatever purpose you desire. Read on to discover how.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Computer with internet connection.
  • Upromise account.
  1. Step 1

    Write a letter requesting to withdraw funds from your Upromise account.

  2. Step 2

    Make sure that the letter includes your full name, Upromise account number, and the amount you would like to withdraw.

  3. Step 3

    If the amount of your request is above $200, make sure that your letter is either notarized or contains a signature guarantee.

  4. Step 4

    Send the letter to the following address: Upromise, Attn: Customer Care, P.O. Box 55555, Boston, MA 02205-5555.

  5. Step 5

Tips & Warnings
  • You can locate your Upromise account number by logging into the Upromise website and clicking on 'My Account'.
  • Upromise sends withdrawal checks once per calendar quarter, so your request could take up to 12 weeks.
  • Upromise has a withdrawal request form that you can download from the Upromise website. Click on 'Help' at the top of the Upromise website. Under the heading 'My Account' click on 'More'. About halfway down the page you will find a link called 'Download Withdrawal Request Form'.
