Are you fond of dressing well? Do you take a particularly keen interest in the fabric, cut and style of your ensembles?
How about starting your own Boutique?

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Got a spare room at home, or a garage that can be converted into a boutique? Great! :)
  1. Step 1

Decide on the place you want to start your boutique.

  2. Step 2

    Keep the décor simple.
Ensure it has a separate entrance and your customers will not disrupt your family routine.

  3. Step 3

Invest in second hand furniture to start with: cupboards, mirror, clothes racks etc.

  4. Step 4

    Employ a good tailor.
Get a phone connection / mobile phone to keep in touch with your customers and suppliers.

  5. Step 5

    The Investment Part-

    Print visiting cards.
Invest in carrier bags, labels, sign board, stationery, letterheads etc.

  6. Step 6

You will need to stock quality fabric or ready made outfits.
    Clothes stands / hangers.
    Estimate staff salaries.

  7. Step 7

Its important for you to zero in on the different segments you'd like to cater to. If catering to the young, you will need trendy, casual wear.

  8. Step 8

Your options can range from designer wear, kids wear, plus sized clothing for the overweight, casual wear, ethnic wear, bridal finery, etc

  9. Step 9

Decide whether you'd like to stock fabric, settle for custom tailoring or take bulk orders from manufacturers.

  10. Step 10

Based on your target market, you will need to stock up on fabric / ensembles or employ an in-house tailor.
