Step1
You need to switch from a desktop to a laptop. That is key if you really want to find more time to write, publish and be more creative. The desktop ties you to one spot, where the laptop is portable and goes where you go. That means you can type and write, on vacation, on line waiting for anything, at the library when there are no public computers available, right at your campsite, and at so many other places. You can take the laptop to the garden or any other natural outdoors place and be inspired by your surroundings. You can even take your laptop to jury duty with you. You might be waiting around for hours in between being called and re-called in that jury service time period.
With your laptop with you, you can write for all those hours instead of just browsing the candy machines or talking with complete strangers. Sure there are televisions there but your most effective time will be your writing time.
So switch today, before you lose any more precious time. And begin writing --ANYWHERE!
Step2
Now that you have switched to a laptop, the next step to writing more and to saving your time is to write "offline". Yes, you heard that. Instead of writing here in these boxes (the template), write your articles on your desktop before you go online.
Writing offline makes you more focused on your topic and you are less distracted by everything around you. Another way that writing offline saves you time is that while your internet service might go down or disconnect, your word processing service or your text program will be there for you. You will not lose your hours of writing because of any internet fluke.
Step3
You can still find more time and more money by writing offline also. If you have any kind of internet service that you are charged for by the hour or day, you can write offline and save all that thinking time , online , and then later on in the day, you can go online for just a few minutes to copy and paste what you wrote already.
One other way you can save time online, and save extra charges from your internet service is by editing and adjusting your photographs offline. Do everything you need to do with your articles and with your photographs offline, and then it will take only a few moments to cut and paste everything back when you are online.
You can write all night when you have a toothache, in the word or text program and not have to be online. If you share the line with someone (if you still have dial up), then you can do your writing all offline and then upload it when the other party is not online.
Last but not least, another way to find more writing time is to save your memory. So many times, you might be walking around and you might have this great idea for an article or a book, and you do not write it down. Life gets you busy and then all of a sudden days later , you realize that you forgot your great idea.
So, by carrying a notebook, pens and pencils for those times when you cannot get online, you are saving and finding and making more writing time for yourself by being able to write every story that you think of, Your writing will not longer be dependent on whether you have a good memory or a bad memory.
Step4
About that notepad or notebook: Use this to write everywhere, all the time. Now, that is not an exaggeration of words. I really mean that. Write everywhere!
When you are on the line at the supermarket, write! When you are in the doctor's waiting room, write. When you are waiting outside the school yard for children to come out, write! When you are waiting to have your car's oil changed, write. When you are waiting for busses and trains and planes, keep on writing.
When you live in large cities, you can spend half of your life waiting for something or other. Use that time productively and creatively. And the way that you do this is by keeping notepads, or notebooks handy.
Yes, writing on computer is modern and more efficient, but there are sometimes when you have no computer or your computer is not easily accessible. This is the time to pull out the pen and paper and begin writing.
By using all of these steps, you have found more time for writing! So, where do you write? What is your most favorite writing space or place?
