Step 1
Be an expert. Knowing your product or service is key to being able to sell it effectively. The words "I don't know" should not be in your vocabulary. If you do come across something you aren't sure of, do your research so you're prepared for the next time the question is asked.
-
Step 2
Be visible. Use bright colors on your signage. Colorful banners and strategically placed brochures and business cards will give you a boost. Your displays need to be eye catching and able to hold a person's attention.
-
Step 3
Be sociable. Everyone that passes by should be treated to a "Hi, how are you?" Many times that simple hello will be just the thing to make them turn their head and notice your booth. Before you know it, they are heading in to check things out. If you can keep a conversation going, talking one to one is the best sell tactic. High pressure selling is overrated and will many times drive customers away.
-
Step 4
Carry business cards and samples. People are more likely to buy a product if they can try it first. If they don't have the money, give them a business card. Make yourself and your product accessible to them away from the market.
-
Step 5
Be able to back up your information. Tell people where they can find information. Tell them how to link to websites or research sites that can verify what you're telling them.
