Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Ferret (and other animal if they get along)
  • Digital or regular camera
  • Ferret outfit (optional)
  • Lots of Patience!
  1. Step 1
    Photograph playtime!

First let your ferret have his playtime so that he gets all the pent up energy out of his system.

Gently sit the ferret on your lap and stroke him lovingly. Give him a treat or some Nutrical/Ferretvite off your finger. Have the camera (and outfit if desired) ready.

  3. Step 3
    Beauty and the Beast!
    Beauty and the Beast!

If you are going to dress up your ferret, now is the time. There are ferret outfits on the market, but if your ferret is large, it may not fit. If this happens, either make your own outfit at home, or go to a craft store and look for the 10-12 inch teddy bear outfits, which would fit a bigger ferret.

If you don't plan to dress up your ferret, then sit him on the couch or other surface and start snapping away. The reason why I suggest a digital camera is because you can usually keep snapping quickly without too much pausing in between shots. It may be hard to keep the ferret still, so you will NEED lots of shots from different angles until you get one where he faces directly into the camera. Dressing my ferret and Chihuahua up was quite a challenge, then holding them still while I took the pictures was an adventure as well. Luckily, there was someone who was willing to hold them still for a split second so that I could get a good shot.

I also took an action shot of my ferret and puppy while they were playing. I had to take about twenty pictures before I got a good one. This takes some patience and a sense of humor.

After you get a satisfactory picture(s) give your pet a treat. He deserves it!

Tips & Warnings
  • You may want to try taking your ferret's picture when he first wakes up and is still sort of groggy, so he will sit still (although this only lasts a minute).
  • You can always take a picture of your ferret with someone holding him. If you want the hide the person holding him, you can always do some fancy artwork on the computer with photo paint or any other program that will edit photos.
  • If you have problems dressing up your ferret for photos or don't want to go and purchase outfits, you can take their picture and then add the hat or whatever in your computer's photo editing program.
  • Younger ferrets are likely to be very energetic and will not sit still. You may have to wait until he is tired and yawning before you attempt to take his picture.
