      • 1

        * Fill a large pot with water

        * Add at least 20 tea bags ( tie the strings together to make it easier to remove the tea bags when your ready)

      • 2

        * Bring the water to a boil and then let it simmer on low uncovered for about 10 minutes.

        * remove from heat and let cool.

      • 3

        * Remove the tea bags (squeeze out the excess tea into the pot from the tea bags)

        * Insert fabric and allow it to sit in the tea overnight. (Make sure all fabric is completely immersed in the tea.)

        * When fabric is done soaking overnight remove fabric from tea and place in dryer to dry.

I do not wash the fabric before I dry it. This ensures better setting of the dye. Fabrics can however be washed in the future because the dye is now set. I prefer ironing and displaying the fabric after the drying process when the tea dye is darker. It seems to go better with my country decor if the fabric is darker.

You can use the washing machine for larger fabrics.

        1. Fill the washing machine up with hot water
        2. insert at least 50 tea bags
        3. Insert fabric
        4. let the washing machine agitate the fabric to completly imerse it in the tea.
        5. Stop the machine before it spins
        6. Allow the fabric to sit in washing machine overnight.
        7. After fabric has set overnight turn washing machine on and let it finish it's cycle.
        8. Remove fabric and put in dryer. Finish with above steps

Tea dyed fabric not only compliments country decor but it accents colonial, Americana and vintage decor as well.
