How to Decorate a Large Living Room

Many homes have large rooms and it is sometimes hard to know what to do to fill the extra space. Here are a few ideas.

• Large room with an empty space

1. Add a small seating area or conversation area. This can be simple and should have two chairs and a small table. Add a lamp and coasters to the table.

2. Fill the empty space with a large plant or potted tree. Use a silk or other faux plant if the lighting is not conducive to live plants.

3. Make a reading or relaxation area. Use a chaise lounge chair or other comfortable chair. Add a small table with a lamp. Add a small bookshelf filled with books or a basket filled with magazines.

4. Set up a small desk and chair to be used as a mini office, to send emails or pay bills on-line.

5. Make an exercise area. Decorate in an attractive and relaxing way using calm greens and live plants. Include an exercise mat, small T.V. to play exercise DVD's or VCR tapes, a few hand weights. Use this area to do stretches each morning and evening.
