Things You'll Need:
- computer with internet connection
- Juno
-
Step 1
Start out by locating the Juno icon on the desktop or start menu. Use the mouse to move the cursor arror or pointer over the icon. Double click on the left mouse button to launch the program or use the right mouse to click once and then left click on the word "open" in the box that appears.
-
Step 2
It will open to the screen to input the e-mail address and password. (If it is selected, it will automatically have both the user name and password). Select the user name, if not already in the user box by using the mouse to click on the down arrow next to the name box. This will cause a list of names to appear. Use the mouse to select the desired user name and left click on it to select it.
-
Step 3
Now put the password in the white box next to the word "password". If the option is selected to put it in automatically, then skip to the next step. Keep in mind it may be a bad idea to have it automatically inserted for security purposes and remembering what the password is.
The password will appear as a row of star-like shapes or asterisks. If a mistake is made typing the password, the program simply won't go online and the passwrod will have to be re-typed. -
Step 4
Select from the buttons below the password box. Choose the "e-mail" button to get the e-mail by left clicking with the mouse on it. This will go to the offline e-mail screen. When it asks to check new mail and it is desired to do so, left click the "yes" button.
-
Step 5
If desired to compose a message, keep in mind there should be a relevent subject in the long white, thin box above the larger white box. The larger white box is for where the message will go. On the top "Send to:" box, an e-mail address must be entered. Say a friend's address is at hotmail.com and his name is hepcat. The e-mail address would be for that particular line is hepcat@hotmail.com. If the owner's e-mail address is used on this line, then the e-mail will come right back to the owner--which is actually a neat trick in case a persona has more than one computer--but not a good thing for those who want to send e-mail to a friend.
Also keep in mind that the whole e-mail address must be used unless using an address from the address book. -
Step 6
If it is desired to include one's e-mail in the message, remember again to use the full address with the member name and @juno.com such as "Djones@juno.com".
-
Step 7
To send mail, use the mouse to left click on the "send mail button to the left of the message. When it prompts with a gray box of options, left click on the "get and send mail" option unless unsure of the message.
-
Step 8
To add names to the address book, left click on the button "address book". All information must be entered manually and if a "nickname" is used, this will show up in the "send to:" line as the recepient.
To send to a contact in the address book it must be selected with the mouse. To add the address to the "send to:" or "cc" line, select the name--will be highlighted--and then left click the "add" button. To remove, select it on the "add" or "cc" line and left click the remove button. -
Step 9
Attachments may be sent with the "attach file" button. These are usually pictures or text files made for the end user. Left click it with the mouse, select a file from the drive and list, then left click open to attach the file.
-
Step 10
The spell check tool can be left clicked on to spell check the message.
-
Step 11
In the "read" screen for the e-mail there are four other options. "get mail" can be selected to get any new e-mail. Reply can be left clicked to reply to a sender's message--either with or without the text from the message by selecting the option from the box that pops up. Forward inserts ">>>" symbols in the message to show the user forwarded an entire message or sent someone's message to someone else.
Move to folder will move to one of the folders from the drop-down box at the top of the screen. From this option, a user may also make up a new folder and actually mark e-mail to go to this folder when received. -
Step 12
If for some reason, the beginning user selected free access--I don't know why a beginning user would--the e-mail must be accessed online. Log on to Juno and wait for the homepage to load. It will say "check new mail" close to the top of the screen. Left click on the words and it will bring the user to the online e-mail screen, where online e-mail can be read and composed just like the offline version.
