Dry Hydrangeas
Dry Hydrangeas

Hydrangeas are large, lovely flowers that are great for drying. Most hydrangeas are a soft blush pink and cream color, but some may be beautiful shades of blue.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • scissors to cut flowers
  • cheap hair spray
  1. Step 1

I know of 2 ways to dry hydrangeas. I've tried both and they both work. If you want to have a bouquet in your house, just put the hydrangeas in a vase in cool water and let the water evaporate. Make sure you remove the leaves before putting them in the water.

  2. Step 2

Another way is to cut the hydrangeas and bunch them with an elastic, hang upside down in a cool, dark place. I use my garage. After a week, they are dry and ready to spray.

  3. Step 3

I spray my hydrangeas with hair spray. I buy a cheap spray and go outside to spray the flowers. I spray the hydrangeas all over being careful to get underneath as well. Once my flowers are sprayed, I'm ready to decorate.

  4. Step 4

Hydrangeas last for a long time. The picture I took are of flowers two years old. Use them in vases alone or with other flowers. Lay them across a stand for a dramatic look. My best decorating technique for hydrangeas is on the Christmas tree. That's right. Place hydrangeas throughout your tree and presto, you have a nice full tree that is gorgeous!

Tips & Warnings
  • Use hydrangeas for a wreath. Add a few ribbons and you have a floral delight!
