Symantec’s pcAnywhere allows users to remotely connect to other computers securely. With this software, different operating systems and devices can share files without any problems. IT helpdesks often use pcAnywhere to solve user problems remotely and quickly. Installing the software is simple with a easy to understand wizard.

Things You’ll Need:

  • Computer
  • PcAnywhere software
Step1
Insert the pcAnywhere disk into your disk drive.
Step2
Click Symantec pcAnywhere in the installation window to begin the installation.
Step3
Follow the initial prompts and accept the Terms of Service.
Step4
Type a user name and organization name in the appropriate windows of the wizard.
Step5
Choose where to install the software. For most installation the default location will work great.
Step6
Choose the type of setup in the Custom Setup window. You can choose to go with the default settings, which are fine for most users, or customize the settings yourself. Custom settings allow you to choose which components to install.
Step7
Choose which programs to install as shortcuts on your desktop in the Ready to Install Window.
Step8
Click Install and follow the remaining prompts to for the type of installation you selected above.
Step9
Restart your computer. PcAnywhere is now installed and ready to use.

  • Take some time to familiarize yourself with the features of pcAnywhere before using the software.
  • Check with a supervisor if necessary to determine the type of installation you need.
  • Only choose a custom installation if you know for sure what you need to customize. Otherwise, stick with the defaults to avoid any problems.
