Virtual PC is a wonderful application that allows you to install other operating systems on your computer without removing or changing your current operating system. The operating systems run in a virtual environment. This is great for testing features of new operating systems before upgrading or simply using the operating system for a class.   • Windows XP Pro, XP Tablet PC Edition, Vista Business, Vista Enterprise, or Vista Ultimate
  • CD drive
  • Hard drive space for desired operating systems

      Download the Virtual PC 2007 software from Microsoft. Check the Resources section below for a link.

      Double-click the installation file. This file will be located wherever you chose to save it when you downloaded in Step 1.

      Choose Next when the wizard begins and accept the Terms of Service.

      Enter your customer information after pressing Next. Also choose whether all users or just the current user can use the software.

      Choose Next to choose where to install the file and click Install to finish the installation.

Tips & Warnings

  • Virtual PC is a great way to test out an operating system before you buy. Microsoft normally offers 90 to 180-day trial versions of their newest operating systems on their website.

  • Be sure you have a legal copy of the operating system you wish to install on Virtual PC before you even consider installing Virtual PC.
