Rag rug friendship bracelets are easy to make and require few materials to get started. The bracelets make great projects for the kids at home or at camp to exchange with friends. Rag rug bracelets can be made from just about any fabric that can be cut into strips. The bracelets are made on the same basis as a rag rug--all you need to know is how to make knots.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Find some fabric. It can be any type, texture or color. You can use old clothes, sheets, towels, tablecloths, bandannas or just about anything that you are able to cut up.

  2. Step 2

Cut the fabric into strips that are half an inch wide and about four inches long.

  3. Step 3

Start by taking one strip and tying it in a knot onto the ponytail holder. You should be wrapping the strip around the ponytail holder--in and over--and tying it off.

  4. Step 4

Continue to add strips until the bracelet becomes very full. Every time you tie a knot, slide it down to meet the previous one.

  5. Step 5

You can hang beads or any other kind of embellishments from the bracelets to decorate them.

Tips & Warnings
  • These bracelets also make great scrunchies.
  • Be sure to choose ponytail holders that will fit the wrist. If they are too small, they can cut off circulation. The more give they have, the better.
