Traditional Ranch Bathroom Remodel
-
1
Determine the current layout of plumbing and fixtures within the bathroom to be sure that placement of the new items will fit accurately. Remove fixtures and repair any damage to walls done by removing items from the surroundings. Once complete, design the layout of the bathroom and start looking for older ranch style pieces to fit your needs.

2
Choose a large vanity with plenty of storage underneath. Nearly all sinks in traditional ranch style homes were porcelain, with stainless steel fixtures on them for facets. Wood tones in line colors, especially oaks are common for the vanity, or very dark stains were used as well. The counter top is usually made of marble in a high end home or formica in a more average ranch.

Select a large, low to the ground bathtub and shower combination. Tubs were commonly "colored" including tans, blues and even pink, though this is not always necessary. Surround tubs with tiling in a traditional ranch home remodel, usually white with accent pieces of color including accents of flowers.

4
Install a medicine cabinet, sometimes built into the wall, other times protruding. In a traditional remodel of a ranch bathroom, there will be a large mirror placed over the sink area, usually the same size as the vanity. Large sized bulbs are placed running across the top of the mirror, to give a glamorous look to the space.

5
Find the most appropriate flooring for the ranch style bathroom. The most commonly found flooring is tile, but linoleum is also a commonly found flooring option in these bathrooms. Earth colors are the most common choices, but you can also select white, which is a sterile medium throughout these bathrooms. Carpeting is another option, found in some ranch style homes.

6
Finish off the bathroom with wallpaper in a floral pattern or with a brightly colored paint. Borders are used along the ceiling, which is also decorated with a large light fixture in a golden hue and finished with a traditional popcorn ceiling. Decorate with floral themed items, candles and flowers for the most traditional ranch design.
