Cleaning a computer monitor is essential to prolong the life of your computer. Dust, grime, dirt, food and other materials collect on your machine and can cause long-term damage if they are not removed. Here are some tips on ow to clean a flat-panel computer monitor.

- Small dust cloth or cloth used to clean eyeglasses
- Can of compressed air

Turn your computer off. You do not need your computer's fan to be working while you do the dirty work.

Wipe dust off slowly with a small dust cloth or cloth used to clean eyeglasses. Do not use a tissue. It will leave residue. You may opt to use a can of compressed air to remove particularly stubborn particles.

Sprinkle a few drops of water on your dust cloth and wipe is slowly across the screen in circles, as though you were cleaning a car windshield. Often, plain and boring H2O can get rid of the grime.

Wipe a dust cloth sprinkled with a mix of tap or distilled water of white vinegar across your computer screen if plain water does not do the trick.

You can also use generic or brand-name vinegar-based cleaning sprays to clean your monitor. Be sure they do not contain any oils. Do not use soap-based cleaning products, as they can damage your monitor over time.

Do not apply any liquid to your computer screen directly.
Make sure any loose dust or water does not fall into your computer keyboard.
Never press or scratch off any crud that sticks to your monitor. You could damage it. It is a flat screen monitor, so it is very sensitive. Your liquids should get rid of it after a few swipes.
