How to Install a Dell Photo Printer 720 for Vista
When the Dell 720 Printers were produced, they only carried drivers for Windows 2000 and Windows XP. However, by visiting the Dell website, you can download updated drivers for Vista as well. Dell has developed workarounds for the Vista exclusions.

Create a folder on your Desktop. Label it "Dell 720 Download" for easy reference. This will allow you to download the compressed driver file and find it easily.

Visit the Dell website and navigate to the "Support" tab. Choose the product you want, then the model.

Click the "Drivers and Downloads" link. Choose "Vista 32 bit" from the "Operating System" dropdown menu. Choose your language.

Below the dropdown menu, you should see that there are two items available for download. Click the blue plus sign to show the available downloads. Click the "Download" button next to the "Dell-Driver" listing. Save the file to the folder that you created on your desktop.

Open the folder on your desktop where you installed the driver archive. Double-click the icon for the driver that you downloaded.

Follow the on-screen instructions and install to the default folder. Restart your computer to ensure that the appropriate driver was installed.

Plug your USB cable into the printer then into an open USB port on your computer. Since the printer is "plug and play", you should see the dialog box pop up for the printer. Follow the instructions.

Click the "Start" button, then the "Control Panel". Click the "Printer" icon, and right-click on the Dell 720 icon. Select the "Set as default printer" option if it isn't already selected.

The Dell support website is sometimes difficult to navigate. You can always search the driver database if you can't find the driver manually.
