1
Use a hot compress or hot shower to help open your piercing hole before you begin to reinsert your nose screw.
-
2
Use both hands to help guide your nose screw as you reinsert it. Use one hand to hold and push in the jewelry, and the other hand to guide the screw on the inside of your nostril.

3
Keep in mind that the angle of your piercing hole may not be what you think! Experiment until you find the best angle to first insert your nose screw. (Sometimes, it helps to hold the screw’s end horizontally in relation to your nose and push it in.)
-
4
Try looking into a mirror while reinserting your nose screw. Some people find this helpful.
-
5
Twist the screw around and around once you’ve gotten the screw pushed into your piercing a bit. Continue to push the screw in. It’s not called a nose screw for nothing!
-
6
Keep twisting your nose screw until you come to the last bend in the jewelry. Keep working the screw at different angles until you push it in past the bend. This could be slightly uncomfortable.
-
7
Expect soreness. Your nose may be a bit sore and red for a day or two after changing your nose screw. This is normal. Use some ice or a salt wash to help your nose feel better.
