To keep food cool, use a lunchbox or cooler that is insulated and pack reusable gel or ice packs around the food. Thermal containers also help to keep food hot or cold, such as a drink or soup.

  2. Step 2

Plastic food containers are a good way to keep food from getting crushed.

  3. Step 3

Give your kids bottled water, a sports drink, or a 100-percent fruit or vegetable juice.

  4. Step 4

Try to include foods from each food group to make a balanced meal. An example of a healthy lunch is a turkey sandwich, carrots, celery sticks, fresh fruit and a whole grain energy bar.

  5. Step 5

Kids usually eat more at camp than at school because of all the physical activities. Pack snacks and healthy treats as well.
