-
Step 1
Insulated lunchboxTo keep food cool, use a lunchbox or cooler that is insulated and pack reusable gel or ice packs around the food. Thermal containers also help to keep food hot or cold, such as a drink or soup.
-
Step 2
Plastic food containers are a good way to keep food from getting crushed.
-
Step 3
Give your kids bottled water, a sports drink, or a 100-percent fruit or vegetable juice.
-
Step 4
Try to include foods from each food group to make a balanced meal. An example of a healthy lunch is a turkey sandwich, carrots, celery sticks, fresh fruit and a whole grain energy bar.
-
Step 5
Kids usually eat more at camp than at school because of all the physical activities. Pack snacks and healthy treats as well.
