San Diego is the second largest city in California and one of the ten largest cities in the USA. Nightlife in San Diego is akin to most major cities. It’s just a matter of finding the party atmosphere that suits a particular visitor’s desires. Here’s how to find clubs in San Diego.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate
Step1
Determine the type of club desired. Cigar bars, coffee shops, pubs, hookah bars and under 21 clubs are just some of the categories available to those interested in San Diego nightlife. Pick one or decide to go on a tour of a variety of clubs to see what the city has to offer. San Diego has a significant gay community in the Hillcrest and University Heights district. Clubs abound in these areas as well.
Step2
Decide on the night of the week. In a city as large as San Diego, it’s possible to go out and find action on any night of the week. Deciding on a night to party will limit the search to venues that feature special events on specific nights of the week. Bar West in San Diego has “Go West Wednesday” with specials for customers who visit on Wednesday night.
Step3
Call clubs and discuss cover charges. Advertised cover charges may change for clubs based on popularity or the lack of popularity. Call to verify rates before making a decision to go to a club. Visit SanDiegoclubs.com for contact information for various clubs in the city.
Step4
Visit community message boards. It is understandable that official club information will only paint a pretty picture for a club. Many sites dedicated to the community will feature message boards where locals can give the skinny on clubs and what they are really like. Keep in mind that these are personal opinions, but they may still help in making decisions about clubs.
Step5
Contact the San Diego Chamber of Commerce. The San Diego Chamber will be able to provide many possibilities for night life in the city. There may also be up to date brochures on all the nightlife in San Diego. Call to have any available information mailed.
Step6
Look for dress codes. The right club may be around the corner, but if the venue is shorts and jeans, it may not be appealing for visitor looking for a dress to impress location. Ask about the dress code when contacting the club.
