Becoming a bodhisattva is the same as becoming an enlightened being or spiritual master who reaches out with compassion and helps others to also reach enlightenment.Although the term is related to Buddhism, becoming a bodhisattva does not depend on a studying a certain religion or worshipping a certain god.       Be on a spiritual path. Find some "practice" that resonates with you, whether it be Buddhism, daily meditation, Sufi dancing, poetry, Tantra or some other religious or spiritual pursuit. Do whatever makes you come alive!It is important to be on a path of spiritual growth. The experiences you have on your path will help you when reaching out and inspiring others.

      Follow your heart. This is important when becoming a sage or bodhisattva. Your heart is the bridge between the spiritual and physical aspects of yourself. When you follow your heart, you choose to see things through a lens of compassion and love and you radiate!Sometimes your heart might lead you into challenging situations. But, trust it. You create experiences for learning and growth.Following your heart also means creating a life you love.

      Set intentions. To be human is to intend. So, what kind of life do you want to create? What would bring you the most joy? Empower yourself!Live an intentional life and see yourself as a powerful co-creator. If you want to inspire others, you must first inspire yourself!

      Treat yourself with compassion and love. This means, loving yourself totally. Even in the face of fear, speak and live your truth. And be OK if you don't speak and live your truth. Give yourself permission to fall flat on your face, too. Like the colors of the rainbow, life has many different shades of experience. To become a master, you must embrace and love all of life's experiences.Also, take it easy on yourself. Treat yourself gently.

      Have compassion for others. Know that people are doing the best they can in each moment. If anger or another dark emotion emerges, be responsible for it. No one is "making" you feel a certain way. Believing this is victim mentality. You are not a victim! You are on the path to enlightenment.If you feel pain, hurt, sadness or anger, this is exactly what you need to look at. Why are you reacting to others in this way? What is it, inside of you that needs to heal? Practice self observation.

      Tune into your inner guidance. Sometimes you be guided to do something that is beyond rational thinking. But if you really trust your inner guidance, you will receive gifts in every situation.Listen to your inner guidance when it comes to nourishing yourself. Exercise and eat only what you truly need and want (even if it's a mug of beer!) and listen to your body! Your body is a temple -- a vehicle for your spirit.
