A hangover can ruin a good celebration. If you experience a headache or upset stomach the morning after, there are remedies for this. Unfortunately, not all hangover remedies are good for you. The hangover detox is a healthy solution for a hangover, not just another hangover remedy. If you have celebrated too much the night before, follow these steps to give yourself a hangover detox.

From Quick Guide: Hangover Relief
Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 banana
  • 1 1/2 cups low fat yogurt
  • 1 tbsp. honey
  • 1 tbsp. sunflower seeds
  • 2 tbsp. muesli
  • 1/2 lemon
  1. Step 1

Rehydrate and detox with water and lemon. Fill a large mug with hot water and squeeze half a lemon. Do this to detox your liver before eating breakfast or adding anything else to your stomach. Sip on water throughout the day of your hangover, trying to get at least a glass of water every hour. Avoid all drinks, except for water, until your headache is gone. This includes not only caffeine, but fruit juices as well. The sugar in fruit juices will only interfere your hangover headache.

  2. Step 2

Make a sugar-balance breakfast. Combine the detox breakfast ingredients and mix. This will give you a sustained release of energy, balancing your sugar levels. You may add an extra banana to the breakfast to correct the acid-to-alkaline levels in your body.

  3. Step 3

Take B and Super C supplements. Take a B-complex and a Super C vitamin. Find the Super C vitamins in your health food store if your local drugstore does not carry them. Digest these supplements with the sugar-balance breakfast.

  4. Step 4

Participate in mild exercise. Go for a long walk to purge toxins and increase energy levels. Try to aim for 30 minutes of mild to moderate walking pace. At minimum, walk around your yard or block and work up to a longer walk later in the day. If weather permits, choose outdoor exercise over indoor activity.

  5. Step 5

Use hydrotherapy. Take a bath with sea salts. Add one cup of bath salts in a warm bath. This will help remove water retention and toxins. Use a bath sponge or washcloth to invigorate your body and help the skin soak in the healing properties.

Tips & Warnings
  • Prevent hangovers. Take the supplements before you begin drinking, preferably several days before a celebration. Drink plenty of water before drinking alcohol and eat a meal to avoid upset stomach. Drinks with bubbles will make your body speed up the absorption of alcohol, making you drunk quicker. Avoid champagne or mixed drinks with sodas.
  • If your stomach is too upset to digest the sugar-balance breakfast, try this hangover recipe at lunch. Eat this at breakfast, stomach permitting, to encourage quicker recuperation.
  • Fresh air does a body and mind good. Inhale deep three times while outdoors, to get fresh, needed oxygen.
  • If you think you may have a problem with alcohol, talk to your doctor. If you have an addiction to alcohol, seek professional help.
  • If you experience chest pains or breathing problems, seek emergency care immediately.
