Things You'll Need:

- Ideas that you like that will make you feel better.
-
Step 1
Purchase a memorial stone with the dog's name and paw prints on it. Find a spot in your yard that is comforting, maybe by a swing that you sit in often, so it is easily viewed.
-
Step 2
Cremation jewelry (some made from the animal's ashes) are also popular. Companies such as AshleyandCo.com, AshestoAshes.com, and Memorialgallerypets.com offer jewelry and other items to remember your pet. For more web sites, use your web browser (Google or Yahoo) and type in pet memorials, or pet memorial jewelry for more sitesl
-
Step 3
If you don't want to bury your pet at your home, consider a pet cemetery near your home. To find these locations, go to www.yellowpages.com or use your browser and type in "pet cemetery in (your state).
-
Step 4
White a letter to your pet and display it in a frame or in the pet' s memory box listed in step 7.
-
Step 5
Donation to pet rescue group. There are many rescue groups to pick from. Again, use your internet browser and type in "yorkie rescue" or whatever dog breed you are most interested in. That will get you started.
-
Step 6
Plant a tree in honor of your pet.
-
Step 7
Create a Memorial Box and place the collar, favorite toy, favorite picture, etc. in it. If the animal was cremated, you can also put some ashes in their as well.
-
Step 8
If you want to be more artistic, create a scrape book or a website with pictures, history, and stories about your pet with your family.
-
Step 9
No matter how you remember your pet, even if it's just in your heart, know that animals do have the capacity to love. They love you for giving them a great life!! Be happy that you gave them that gift, and don't hesitate too long to bring another "baby" into your home.
