Things You'll Need:
- Hammer
- Screwdriver
- Electric drill
- Measuring tape
- Plumb line
-
Step 1
Install the top track first. The track is fastened with wooden screws that come with the door. If there is no ceiling joist for the screws, you will need to purchase anchors to fasten the top track into the ceiling.
-
Step 2
Bifold door may come with either a bottom track or an “L” bracket that gets screwed to the wall and floor. If you have a bottom track, use a plumb line to mark both ends and center where you’re going to install the bottom track on the floor. The plumb line will ensure your bottom track is directly below the top track. If you have an “L” bracket use a plumb line to mark each end so that the bracket is mounted directly under the top track.
-
Step 3
Install each door by first placing the bottom pivot into the bottom track or the “L” bracket if there is no track. Then place the top spring loaded pivot into the top track by retracting the pivot and then releasing it into the track.
-
Step 4
Space the door panels evenly and fit them to the door opening by adjusting them in the track sockets.
-
Step 5
Raise or lower the doors by adjusting the height of the lower pivot pin.
-
Step 6
Ensure that the doors open and close freely and there is no binding at any point.
