If your staff members keep forgetting important events like company-wide meetings, breakfast briefings and social events after work, set up a bulletin board in the break room that keeps them up to date on the activities. By including eye-catching elements and fun touches, they'll never forget the dates again.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Bulletin board
  • Pins, tape or magnets (if necessary)
  • Memos and notices
  • Photos
  • Seasonal decorations
  1. Step 1

Find a board that makes it easy to add and remove items. A version with a completely sticky surface, for example, won't require pins, staples, tape or magnets to affix flyers, photos and cards (see Resources).

  2. Step 2

Hang the bulletin board in a common area where most employees will stop to peruse it. The break room and the main elevator are ideal since staff will have a moment to review it each day, particularly if you're frequently updating it with staff memos and notes on new company regulations. If you place it in the entry hall, for example, many people will pass it by without a second glance.

  3. Step 3

Include information on upcoming meetings and project deadlines for the entire company and specific departments. Provide the time, location, details on what staff members need to bring and a contact phone number or email in case anyone has additional questions. If the meeting is for a specific department, list that first to avoid confusion. Copy the information onto a piece of red paper to post the day before to attract even more attention.

  4. Step 4

Discuss upcoming social events for staff members. In addition to the time, place and occasion, list whether family members are invited and if there's a fee for any activities. Provide contact information for additional questions.

  5. Step 5

Let your boss, the company owner or human resources representative approve each image, notice and decoration before you hang it to weed out potentially offensive items and avoid liability issues.

  6. Step 6

Get the office involved by putting a different department in charge of the bulletin board each month. Encourage workers to design creative displays that use seasonal decorations, photos from past work events and inspirational quotes. At the end of the year, award the group that created the best display a gift card to a local restaurant.
