How to Care for a Crop Dusting Plane
Crop dusting has been around for decades. When first discovered, crop dusting by plane seemed to be one of the best ways to apply pesticides and fertilizers to vast acreage of farm land. Now people are more aware of the health risks that crop dusting brings to surrounding communities and the food we eat. 1
Maintain the mechanical aspects of the plane like you would any other small plane or engine. You should be constantly checking the engine components, fluids, changing the oil and checking the filters. Crop dusting plane engines wear faster because they tend to get more dust and debris in them.

2
Check the pesticide tanks often to ensure there are no leaks, cracks, excessive corrosion or other damage. You should also check the release mechanism regularly to test for malfunctions. You need the tanks and release valves working properly at all times to avoid dumping pesticides in the wrong place.

3
Clean the plane often. Just as you wash your car, you should also be washing your crop dusting plane. This should be done in the same area every time to avoid getting pesticides in the ground water. It should also be done in an area with a water drainage that flows into a contained area, not the sewer system.

4
Dispose of the leftover crop dusting chemicals properly and safely. Crop dusting chemicals are dangerous to be handled and must be disposed of properly.
