How to Install Seamless Gutters
Seamless gutters add a nice finish to a house, plus they divert water away from the foundation of the house. This helps to keep foundation and basement dry. It also gives added protection to the siding by keeping rainwater from the roof from running over it. With some basic carpentry skills, you can install seamless gutters to your home. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- Measuring tape
- Ladder
- Chalk line
- Hammer
- Nails
- Seamless gutters
- Hangers
- Downspouts
- Corner mounts
Instructions
-
-
1
Measure the amount of material you need for the seamless gutters, downspouts and drains.
-
2
Choose the color of the seamless gutters you wish to install. While seamless guttering material is available in many colors, white is the least likely to fade. It's also the easiest color to match should you need to replace a section because of wind or storm damage.
-
-
3
Purchase the hangers, downspouts and the seamless guttering.
-
4
Mark a chalk line where you intend to hang the gutters. A good rule of thumb is to allow one to two inches of drop for every 40 feet of house. If you fail to install the gutters without enough drop, they can't drain the water away from the house properly.
-
5
Start at a corner away from where you intend to install a downspout. Or if you are putting downspouts on both ends, start in the middle of the roof. Install the hangers using a hammer and nails. Typically, you place these every 24 to 30 inches, but follow the manufacturer's recommendations.
-
6
Place the guttering into the hangers. Usually it snaps in place. Connect the long seamless piece with the corner mount.
-
7
Repeat Steps 5 and 6 to install all the seamless gutters. Configure the downspouts and connect them to the corner mounts.

Need to mention something about how to level gutters on angled facia boards. Do you make the make the leveling devices, if so how, or do you buy them and if so where?
