Breakdancing is a unique style because it allows the dancer a lot of freedom for personal expression. There are standard moves, like flares and windmills, but it's not always appropriate to just bust a move. You can infuse breakdancing styles into traditional dance to make it more mainstream, but keep it unique.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate
Step1
Watch some videos of urban dancing. You'll pick up a few ideas on how to integrate the two styles of dancing effectively. At first, you may feel stupid infusing breakdance moves into traditional dancing, but after some practice, you'll feel much more comfortable.
Step2
Perfect your footwork. This is the easiest way to infuse breakdancing into traditional dance. Just do a few steps in the b-boy style and show off your skills.
Step3
Do some pop and lock moves. "Pop and lock" refers to moving a body part and then freezing it; it is a style commonly used by b-boys when they're not on the floor breakdancing. This allows you to be creative and display your dancing "personality."
Step4
Integrate all-out breakdancing moves into your casual dancing. If you're dancing at a club and you realize you have the space to break it out, go for it. You're sure to impress lots of people and you may even start an informal dance battle.

Tips & Warnings

  • Realize that dancing in any form is an art. Do whatever moves you.
  • You can seriously injure yourself or someone else if you do breakdancing moves in an inadequate space. You could hit someone with one of your legs or arms, or you could hurt yourself if you decide to do this on uneven or rough ground.
