How to Promote a Water Park

Since most of the business for your water park will peak during the summer months; you need to promote the recreational facility that will generate interest from local and out-of-town visitors as soon as the weather turns warm. Use these basic strategies to increase your admissions.

Instructions

    • 1

Begin your promotional efforts in the late spring, when kids' and parents' thoughts turn to summer. If you send out flyers discussing your new water park in the winter, for example, they're likely to end up in the trash or buried in a drawer by the time your peak season rolls around.

    • 2

Take out an ad in newspapers, free parents' magazines and on blogs and websites that cover family fun or summer activities. You can also list your recreation center on a website listing national water parks to attract visitors who are in town on vacation (see Resources).

    • 3

Start a blog or website to promote your water park online. In addition to vital information like hours of operation, opening and closing dates for the season, location and phone number, also include photos of the park's attractions, downloadable coupons and information on additional services like birthday parties, park rentals and special events.

    • 4

Print custom items like colorful plastic drinking cups, crazy straws or buttons to hand out to younger customers during your opening week. Your logo will remind them about their day at the park and encourage them to remind their parents that they want to return all season long.

    • 5

Encourage your employees to not only be friendly and helpful to the guests at the water park to create a positive experience for your customers, but also to spread the word about the center to their friends, family, classmates and neighbors.
