Step 1
Get Adobe Photoshop on your virtual Windows machine in Linux. If you need to add Wine, go to the "Add or Remove Programs" option in the control panel. Install Photoshop on that virtual machine using either a CD or a download from Soft 32.

Open Photoshop and create a new file. It needs to be set up with 1600 x 1200 pixels and 72 dpi.

Choose a background color. Most backgammon boards are either brown or black, but you can choose any background color you want.

Draw 12 triangles pointed toward the middle from the top of the screen and fill them with colors alternating black and white, starting with black on the left side. Repeat this process on the bottom but start with white on the left side. Save the file on your Linux desktop.

Go to your desktop and right click anywhere there isn't an icon. Left click on the option in the menu that says "Change desktop background." Click on the "Add" button and add the Photoshop file saved on your desktop. When it appears in the options for your desktop background, click on it and the close the application.
