Instructions

1
Create a rough opening for the electric fireplace that meets the dimensions recommended by the manufacturers.
-
2
Get at least 8 inches of "service cable" that you will use to connect to the fireplace's junction box as you wire an electric fireplace.
-
-
3
Use wire strippers to the outer jacket of the wire, then remove ½ of an inch of coating from the ends of each individual wire.
-
4
Unscrew the screws on the cover of the junction box, and take the cover off. Put the screws in a safe place. Remove any knockouts or make use of the cable clamp in the junction box.
-
5
Set the fireplace in the opening, and maneuver it to its final location. Set a level on the top of the electric fireplace and shim it if necessary. Secure it to the frame with nailing flanges.
-
6
Attach the wires to the junction box according to the wiring diagram provided with the electric fireplace, making sure L1 (load), N (neutral) and G (ground) connect with each other. They go to the rear of the junction box.
-
7
Install a dedicated, fused circuit that is 15 amp with L1, G & N. It should be rated for 120 volts.
-
8
Tuck all the connectors inside, and screw back on the cover for the junction box. The clamp on the junction box should hold only the outer jacket of the service cable, as well as that of the thermostat. If you have line for a wall switch, then it will be in the clamp also when you wire an electric fireplace
